about me . . .

In 2014 we purchased a farmhouse built in 1897 on the plains of Kansas. We call it “The Noah Farm” because the name Noah means “rest”.  This is the story of our restoration of this house, land, and our search for rest in the midst of chaos.  We hope this blog will encourage you to dream big and also to find the inner rest of the soul that we all long for.

This is Katness. She was found by my son and his t This is Katness. She was found by my son and his then fiancée two years ago behind our barn crying. They took her into their hearts and she has become an amazing farm cat full of character and fearless. This is my first kitten painting. I gave it to my son and now his wife Alexis as a Christmas gift. My greatest treasure to give. I loved seeing their reaction.

After three attempts I finally got a good watercol After three attempts I finally got a good watercolor of my favorite lab - Latte. He’s the most obedient dog we’ve ever had and loves farm life. With all the chickens and ducks we have, he has never once put one in his mouth.

These birds used to free range in my farm yard. E These birds used to free range in my farm yard. Even though they are so ugly and big they are the sweetest birds. They never pecked or clawed at us but would sit at our feet wanting to be pet like a dog. Processing day is hard and I don’t look at Thanksgiving Day the same way. My husband reminds me we gave our birds a good life. Thankful for these lovely birds and food on my table. 🦃 🦆

We’ve had TWO broody hens sitting together in a We’ve had TWO broody hens sitting together in a nesting box on a bunch of eggs. They would peck if we tried to take the eggs away. So this is the first batch of naturally raised Noah Farm baby chicks! Of course it snowed right when they were ready to be born so they were moved to the garage. One momma started picking on the babies so we moved her out. The other one, a Buff Orpington seems to enjoy being a mother. 🐣🐣🐥🐥🐣
